The Utopians are a new Belgian “funky reggae” group featuring bassist Arnaud Pemmers & drummer Nico Leonard, the very experienced rhythm section of the most popular ska & rocksteady band from Belgium: The Moon Invaders. The band was formed during the lockdown by Arnaud Pemmers and Romain Trigaux (guitar & vocals), soon joined by their charismatic frontman Nicolas Nsakala (lead vocals & guitar) and the organ wizard Yoann Grudzien (keyboards).
The band mixes several influences and sounds from the 60s and 70s like rocksteady, early reggae & funk and The Utopians recordings are home made, old-fashioned way in the Badasonic analog recording studio in Charleroi. Their first EP ‘How The World Turns’ will be released this spring 2023 on Badasonic Records followed by their debut LP in 2024.
On top of their own shows, The Utopians are currently working as a backing band for Jamaican singers Winston Francis, Alpheus and occasionally Stranger Cole.
